Project Controls

Earned Value Management (EVM)

Earned Value Management (EVM) is a Project Control process for measuring project performance, identifying problems and predicting project outcomes. EVM integrates schedule, cost, and performance data in a structured manner, to provide timely, accurate reports to facilitate proactive management decisions. EVM is proven to have a significant, positive impact in delivering successful projects, and is fast becoming a mandatory requirement for projects, large and small.

D2 has significant experience in developing and implementing Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) for large-scale capital investment programmes and major transport infrastructure projects.

Our team has the skills and tools to help clients develop data structures; produce and maintain robust Performance Measurement Baselines (PMB); design and automate periodic reporting processes; and build custom Earned Value Analysis (EVA) reports to visualise performance data and easily identify variances and trends.

Project Reporting and Data Visualisation

Data Visualisation enables project information to be communicated clearly and effectively, so that relevant information is available to inform management action and decision making.

D2 recognise that timely, accurate project reports are an effective management tool for identifying and understanding potential issues that may influence the successful outcome of a project.

Our team has substantial expertise in designing bespoke dashboard report templates and processes, to provide easy to digest information for a wide variety of applications, including: schedule milestone performance; blockade/possession management; Earned Value Analysis (EVA); KPI/KRA performance; and commercial models.

Key Performance Indicators (KPI)/Key Result Areas (KRA)

KPI’s and KRA’s measure performance of specific areas or functions identified as significant to successful project delivery or business operations. KPI’s can be tailored from project to project, or designed as a framework to compare projects across programmes or portfolios.

D2 are experienced at designing and developing KPI frameworks and scoring criteria, to provide actionable feedback to achieve the desired project performance and team behaviours. Dashboard reports provide summary or detailed analysis of each KPI/KRA, to highlight areas of under achievement and performance trends.

Data Engineering

Through the use of Data Engineering techniques, we design, build, and maintain systems for collecting, storing, processing, and analysing data at scale, helping our customers to interpret and harness the full potential of substantial amounts of data.

We provide the expertise in programming languages such as Python, Scala, R, combined with a robust understanding of Relational and Non-Relational Databases. We are able to streamline the flow of data utilising the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process with tools such as Talend Informatica, Amazon Redshift, Apache Airflow, Hadoop, and Power Query.

Utilising tools such as Hadoop, MongoDB, and Kafka, we manage and process BIG DATA giving us the ability to store and operate on multiple types of datasets simultaneously and utilising their scalability, speed, and durability.  We drive the performance and reliability our client’s data through the application of our cloud solutions team’s expertise in platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP.
